Marianna is a young teenager who came in to model for us in open studio last week.  I'll miss our studio sessions as we break for the summer, but will work on more formal pieces in the meantime.  And I'll look forward to getting back to painting from live model sittings once again in the fall!

The Window Pain, 8x10" (Sold)

Here is my cat Marmalade, on the other side of my window waiting for me to let him in.  He couldn't care less that there is a gorgeous day going on behind him.  He just wants to be let in.  Now.

He's a window pain.

Springtime on Cuba Marsh, 8x10"

Every day on my way to work I pass Cuba Marsh.  I love watching the seasons change on the water.  Right now, the new shoots are just starting to push through the brown grasses on the marsh's edge and the trees are starting to fill out their leaves.  May is a wonderful month in Illinois, if you can catch it on a sunny day!

I would have to say that Carol is my favorite model of all time!  Not only because she's always willing to put crazy things in her hair and will hold any pose we ask, but because she's a terrific friend and artist to boot.  This somewhat pensive pose doesn't capture her bubbly personality, but I enjoyed using charcoal on her portrait for a change of pace.

Mari sat for us in our portrait class a couple of weeks ago.  She was the perfect model-- always right on the mark.  I tried to keep this one loose and impressionistic.  I hope you like this effect!

Daniella, 9x12"

Daniella is a young student at Mainstreet Art Centre who posed for our Open Studio last night.  I tried to keep things very soft on her face and features, then punched things up a bit with the palette knife at the very end.

A Pretty Good Start 6x6" SOLD

Almost all my favorite Italian dishes start this way:  two onions and a head of garlic.  Anytime they're out on the counter, we know we're in for something really good!

Veggie Lineup 8x8"

Please email me for purchase info

Artichokes are by far my favorite vegetable-- I even have a couch covered in artichoke fabric!  Pretty tough to paint though.  I think there must be at least five coats of paint on this one.

Sorry Folks... (Sold)

...sometimes a gal just has to paint a fluffy kitty!  Maybe I should call this one "Mug Shot". (I wonder what he did...)

Yellow Roses, 8x8" SOLD

What could be more beautiful than a vase full of yellow roses?  OK, I'll admit it, I'm pretty lucky to have a husband who keeps the house in fresh flowers all the time.  But as we all know, the beauty of flowers is fleeting, so I'll try to capture them in paint whenever I can.

Simplicity, 8x8"

I started this composition with an antique glass Clorox bottle and scattered a few items around it.  It reminds me of a simpler, less complicated era.
