Floral Fantasy, 16x12"
This is another piece that I recently shipped off to the East End Gallery in Nantucket. I painted this one in one marathon session. The three yellow flowers were established first, and then the rest was added, subtracted, moved, and painted over about a thousand times. This process is fun and frustrating at the same time, and I'm left with lots of very wet paint on the canvas and on myself. I do wish the Fed Ex man would alert me when I open the door with a purple mustache.

So I'm not the only one who's been caught "red" handed or "purple" too. I finally put a small wall mirror by the door so I could double-check myself. Love the colors in this piece!
ReplyDeleteThat's an inspired idea Angela-- thank you!
DeleteBeautiful piece! Colors are great. Lots of movement.
ReplyDeleteI opened the door to a new neighbor the other day with a ultramarine half mustache.... she was of course too polite to mention it. ugh!
She may have been afraid that it was always there!LOL Won't she be surprised to see you without it next time!
DeleteYou may have done them many times but you maintained the freshness and joy.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, fresh and loose. The colors are delightful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunningwork, Ann! Quick question - How do you get your oils to dry in a timely manner? I just signed a couple of pieces and the sig. is taking forever to dry. It's high humidity here, but we have the air on.(?) Thanks! Love your work and I'm really looking forward to hearing all about your adventures with TC!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandy! When I need a painting to dry quickly, I place it face out in a sunny window. The heat from the sun gently warms it and speeds the process.
DeleteThanks Ann. I will try it!
DeleteBeautiful painting Ann! Love all the varieties of flowers.
ReplyDeleteI usually go to a life drawing class with a friend and she tells me if I have charcoal on my face. The day she doesn't come with me may be very frightful indeed for those who may run into me after a class! ;-)
I love the richness of color and fresh, loose application, Ann.
