"Harbor Town", 9x13"

Last time I was in Saugatuck, I couldn't resist snapping a few photos for possible painting references.  This one was a natural-- it just says "Harbor Town".

  1. It really does say harbor town...nicely painted. Love that canopy of trees over the scene.

  3. You worked from a photo but still captured a miraculous sense of light and space.

  4. I meant to say that I work from photos too, and know that it's hard to get such a spontaneous look.

    1. Ah yes, Taryn, I know just what you mean :) Even though we'd love to set up an easel and paint everywhere we go, life just doesn't allow that all too often! Thanks so much for your comments-- and I hope you're continuing to enjoy beautiful Quebec. I was there just last summer and was absolutely captivated!

  5. Great painting with wonderful light.
I laughed at Taryn's correction. I did know exactly what she meant and I know you did too. She is so sweet to make sure you understood.

    1. So true, Julie. Sometimes it's hard to get our point across in these tiny little boxes, but we artists have our hearts in the right place, and we keep trying! I get so much support from fellow artists, I don't know how people made art before the internet! Thank you for your very kind comment :)
