Repose, 10x8" (Sold)

I am so lucky to be part of a studio where we have models come in and pose for us.  This model came in a few weeks ago for our portrait class.  I was busy painting from another model that day, but I took a few reference photos and painted her today.  I may decide to put more detail on this one, or I may just leave it loose and impressionistic as it is now.  Do you have an opinion?

This week's challenge on Daily Paintworks is to paint someone in repose.  I think I'll send this one in!

  1. I've just discovered your blog through the daily paintworks challenges and have been enjoying looking at your paintings. I absolutely love this just as it is, in addition to the bold color, I love the contrast of the muted colors in the background; a stunning figure! I've added myself as a new follower to your blog, love your painting style!

    2. I love this..the looseness of the style and bright, vibrant reds. It is so relaxed...just like the figure. Just love it!

  2. I would vote this as a definite LAI..."Leave As Is", Ann! A painting this expressively loose always allows more of the painter to shine through.

  3. This is beautiful Ann. I hope you can keep this "new style" going. I think the workshop must have been amazing because I love the work you accomplished in it and then to follow up with this is just OUTSTANDING! I am now a follower.

    1. Thank you Elizabeth! That's pretty much the consensus right now-- which makes me happy. I'll be glad to leave it "as is"!
